BRC - Backup Schedule Types

Descriptions of backup schedule types:

Hourly

Default: Sets a backup job to run on an hourly basis starting at 9:00 am and continuing through 7:00 pm on Monday through Friday (five days). Backup versions are retained for 168 hours (one week). 

Start time:  Sets the backup start time. You can specify both the hour and minute from the dropdown menus. Each backup is run every interval (see the Start a backup every description) after the start time. For
example, if the start time is 7:18am and the interval is set to one hour, the first backup starts at 7:18am, the next backup starts at 8:18am, and so on.

Start a Backup Every... Sets the interval duration.  By default, the interval is one hour, but you can specify a longer duration from the drop-dwon menu. For example, if this is set to 2 and the start time is 7:00 am, the first backup starts at 7:00 am, the second starts at 9:00 am, and so on.

Backup on Connect (Laptops only): Sets automatic (immediate) backup for laptops when they connect if they missed the most recently scheduled backup. By default, offline devices are ignored during a backup run and simply miss being backed up. Setting this parameter cause the Axcient appliance to monitor an offline laptop and begin backup as soon as the laptop connects. On A WIndows laptop, a pop-up window displays when the backup begins.

Keep Starting Backups Until... Sets the backup run stop time.The specified time is the last hour that day a backup is started. By default, the stop time is 7:00 pm, but you can change this to any hour frm the drop-down menu. The minutes value is determined by the minutes setting in the Start Time parameter.

On these days: Sets which days the job runs. Click the boxes next to the desired days. By default, Monday through Friday are selected.

Keep Backup for:  Sets the retention period, which is the amount of time a backup version is saved. After the specified interval, a version is deleted and cannot be restored. The default is 168 hours (seven days.) The maximum value allowed is 744 hours (31 days). 

Daily

Default: Sets a backup job to run once a day, Monday through Friday (five days) starting at 7:00 pm. . Backup versions are retained for 30 days (one month).

Start time:  Sets the start time for daily backups. You can specify both the hour and minute from the drop-down menus. For example, if the start time is 9:15 pm, a backup begins at that same time each day selected in the On These Days parameter.

On these days: Sets which days to run a daily backup. Click the boxes next to the desired days. By default, Monday through Friday are selected.

Keep Backup for:  Sets the retention period. After the specified interval, a version is deleted and cannot be restored. The default is 30 days (one month). The maximum value allowed is 1827 days (five years).

Weekly

Default: Sets a backup job to run once a week.

Start time:  Sets backup start time. You can specify both the hour and minute from the drop-down menus. For example, if the start time is 9:15 pm, a backup begins at that same time each day selected in the Day of the Week parameter.

Backup on Connect (Laptops only): See the explanation under Hourly.

On these days: Sets which days to run a backup. Select the day from the drop-down menu. The default day is Friday.

Keep Backup for:  Sets the retention period. After the specified interval, a version is deleted and cannot be restored. The default is 12 weeks (three months). The maximum value allowed is 104 weeks (two years).

Monthly

Default: Sets a backup job to run once a month starting at 8:00 pm on the last day of the month. Backup versions are retained for 12 months (one year). 

Start time:  Sets backup start time. You can specify both the hour and minute from the drop-down menus. For example, if the start time is 9:15 pm, a backup begins at that same time each day selected in the Day of the Month parameter.

Backup on Connect (Laptops only): See the explanation under Hourly..

On these days: Sets which days to run a backup. Select the day (1 -31) from the drop-down menu. The default day is 31, which resolves the last day of the month for months with fewer than 31 days.

Keep Backup for:  Sets the retention period. After the specified interval, a version is deleted and cannot be restored. The default is 12 months (one year). The maximum value allowed is 36 months (three years).

Yearly 

Default: Sets a backup job to run once a year starting at 8:00 pm on December 31.. Backup versions are retained for five years.

Start time:  Sets backup start time. You can specify both the hour and minute from the drop-down menus. For example, if the start time is 9:15 pm, a backup begins at that same time each day selected in the Day of the Year parameter.

On these days: Sets which days to run a backup. Select the date from the interactive calendar or enter the value directly into the field form mm/dd/yyyy. The default day is 12/31/current year.

Keep Backup for:  Sets the retention period. After the specified interval, a version is deleted and cannot be restored. The default is five years. The maximum value allowed is 10 years.
