Description:
You may see an error similar to this one:
Error: WARN: 0x30000: Failed to generate the settings profile so that it could be backed up
Cause: This is occurring because something within the system is keeping the Online Backup Manager (OBM) from being able to write to the system32 folder. This could be caused by anything from av/fw and security settings to changes within Windows itself resulting from a recent update.
Resolution:
There is no one-size-fits-all solution to this issue. The solution you need will be dependent on your particular environment. Here are some steps to help you mitigate whatever your particular cause might be:
- Specify administrative credentials to run the Online Backup Manager. To do this:
a. Open up Services.msc.
b. Locate the {branded} Backup and {branded} Backup Server services and right click Properties.
Note: {branded} should be your business name that was used to brand the backup client, or simply use for non branded versions.
c. Change to the Log On tab and add the logon credentials of a Windows account that has administrative rights.
If this is a Domain environment, a Domain Admin username is recommended. If this is not a Domain environment, use a Local Admin username.
d. Save the settings and restart the service.
e. Run the backup and verify if the error is resolved or not.
3. Add the [branded]worker.exe and [branded]supervisor.exe to the excluded programs list on your AV system.
4. If neither of these solutions resolves the issue for you, please open a ticket with Support for further assistance.
