Version:       x360Recover 16.0.0

Release date:      March 04 2025

Release overview

x360Recover 16.0.0 is a Maintenance Release

The primary focus of this release is to deploy stabilization and security fixes in preparation for upgrading to Ubuntu Jammy (22.04 LTS).

Note: Version 16.0.0 is the final stabilization release prior to the impending upgrade to Ubuntu 22.04LTS (Jammy) coming in version 17.0.0.

A note about the upgrade process

x360Recover allows upgrading by only a single major revision. That is to say, a system running 14.x.x must upgrade to some version (typically the latest) of 15.x.x before it can upgrade to 16.x.x, etc.

15.0.0 was released to provide a stable upgrade path for deploying the upgrade from Python 2 to Python 3.

16.0.0 is being released to provide a stable upgrade path for deploying MongoDB 8.0 as well as providing a single known upgrade state from which to perform the underlying Ubuntu OS upgrade to Ubuntu 22.04LTS (Jammy) which will be deployed in the next release: 17.0.0

Auto Update Best Practices

We recommend that Enable Auto Update is enabled on the Settings -> Update Manager page on each of your Replibit devices.

We also recommend that you enable Auto-Enable Remote Assist When Upgrading so that remote access will be available to our development team should something go wrong with your upgrade. This will ensure that your Replibit devices are updated with the latest software enhancements in a timely fashion, and that the Replibit Support team will have a short window of time to access and repair any troublesome devices without requiring user intervention.
