Release Overview
10.0.0 is a Feature Release. The primary focus of this release is to perform the Ubuntu Xenial operating system upgrade.
Hotfix release 10.0.2 is available here:
Important Notice
This release will perform an upgrade of your devices from Ubuntu Trusty (14.04 LTS) to Ubuntu Xenial (16.04 LTS.)
The total upgrade is expected to take 30-90 minutes in most cases but might take longer to complete on some devices.
In order to perform this upgrade, it is required to download the new operating system packages from the Internet. Axcient has taken several steps to ensure that this process completes in a smooth and reliable fashion, including the creation of a dedicated Axcient Ubuntu software repository mirror that will be used exclusively by all devices running version 10.0.0 or newer. Version 9.0.0 devices will use the Axcient mirror to pre-cache all required packages necessary for the Xenial upgrade in preparation for the upcoming release.
Notes: This release contains a Linux operating system upgrade as well as a product upgrade.
- Your devices will be rebooted multiple times during the upgrade process.
- The total upgrade is expected to take 30-90 minutes in most cases but might take longer to complete on some devices.
- If the upgrade has not completed within 6 hours, contact Axcient support for assistance
- You must ensure that your devices are able to access the new Axcient Ubuntu mirror at rb-mirror.slc.efscloud.net (198.73.17.62) over HTTPS. Your devices will be blocked from upgrading if they cannot successfully download all required packages.

Auto Update Best Practices
We recommend that Enable Auto Update is enabled on the Settings -> Update Manager page on each of your devices.
We also recommend that you enable Auto-Enable Remote Assist When Upgrading so that remote access will be available to our development team should something go wrong with your upgrade.
This will ensure that your devices are updated with the latest software enhancements in a timely fashion, and that the Support team will have a short window of time to access and repair any troublesome devices without requiring user intervention.

Preparation for Ubuntu Xenial OS Upgrade- The total upgrade is expected to take 30-90 minutes in most cases but might take longer to complete on some devices.
One of the most wide-spread issues encountered during the previous Ubuntu Precise (12.04 LTS) to Trusty (14.05 LTS) Operating System upgrade involved problems with package retrieval due to advanced malware and intrusion prevention scanning features on some firewalls.
Due to the diverse nature of the public Ubuntu software repositories, it was challenging for some partners to configure firewall exceptions necessary to allow package downloads without violating their security policies.
To alleviate this issue with the Ubuntu Xenial (16.04 LTS) and future OS upgrades, Axcient has created a dedicated Ubuntu software repository mirror. The current release (Version 9.0.0) performs all Xenial package pre-fetch operations solely with the dedicated Axcient mirror, and version 10.0.0 and newer will perform ALL package operations solely with this mirror going forward.
All package operations occur over https to ensure operational security. This allows partners to configure a single firewall rule allowing traffic between the BDR appliance and a single internet target rather than having to manage rules between many public mirror servers.
Firewall Configuration
In order to ensure that the upgrade to Ubuntu Xenial (16.04 LTS) can complete successfully, it is vital that your devices have unrestricted access to the Axcient Ubuntu software mirror at https://rb-mirror.slc.efscloud.net (198.73.17.51)
Please ensure that your firewall rules are configured to allow all HTTPS traffic between the Axcient Ubuntu repository and your devices, with all antivirus/antimalware/antispam scanning, etc. disabled.
Failure to enable unrestricted access to the software repository could prevent prefetching of the necessary software packages from being successful and may block the upgrade to version 10.0.0.
Your devices may be left in a broken state if the upgrade to 10.0.0 fails due to the inability to download required software packages.
Operating system hardening
With this release, all software packages have been upgraded to supported versions provided by Ubuntu. All Linux components are now either running widely supported major release versions, or are running versions patched by Ubuntu and updated with all available security fixes.
