Issue: When looking at the snapshot through the protect system details page, the snapshot appears much smaller than the replication job size for that snapshot

Cause: The snapshot size in the protected system details page is the size of the VSS snapshot from the protected system. 

For replication, the snapshot is converted from a VSS snapshot to a ZFS snapshop. The size represented for the ZFS snapshot in the replication details is the size of the ZFS snapshot uncompressed. Compression does take place during replication so the size is actually smaller than that, but that compression is not represented in the replication job details.
